Day 2: Lightless

focused hope nested in craggy cliffs
dark, light, dark, light…

spinning, shining star above the raging sea
bold and white

upright, against the buffeting winds
in the years you have dimmed

dead sentinel
left to dust and gulls

but for ghosts and lonely souls
aged starlight, still standing for them

Today’s prompt is a combination from NaPoWriMo, “stars” and “write about something that is something, but doesn’t seem like it, and that’s alright.” I never know if I’ll follow a prompt or create something that barely resembles it in the end. That’s the fun in it!
