Blind, Mute, Deaf

View the world through blind eyes
for what could be a better way?
The seeing see only what they want to see
regardless of what lies in the heart.
Which blind learn to view more easily.

Sing the melody of nature with a mute voice
for what could be a better way?
The loud singers can not hear over their voices
the heartbeat of the wild
Which the silent person listens to.

Hear the millions of the world with deaf ears
for what could be a better way?
The rumble of society washes over hearing ears
who hear nothing but insufferably gossip.
Which the deaf are glad not to hear.

  1. I became friends with a blind person in Ca Mau in Vietnam — and the friendship was all the more special, as I learned to see the world in ways I hadn’t before. It may sound weird, but I found her lucky in some ways, though when I mentioned it to someone else, he thought I was crazy for saying so. Really, while those of us who aren’t blind have five senses, it was as if she’d lost one and gained three others that the non-blind don’t have.

    1. That sounds like a beautiful friendship. We really don’t know what it is to be blind unless we become so. No doubt it is different and you’re right, other deeper senses are awakened. I don’t think it’s weird at all that you found her lucky in some ways.
